RULES FOR THE PRESS, CYBER AND FILM CATEGORIES


The competition task will be published at these pages (www.youngcreatives.com/finland) on Thursday, 12 March at 17.00 o’clock and the work is to be handed in after 72 hours on Sunday, 15 March at 17.00 o’clock. Only one competition work per team can be handed in for each category (except in Press -category).

The competition is participated as a team of two persons.

The team is allowed to participate either in one, two or all three categories (Press, Cyber, Film) so that the team is the same in all three categories. Time for doing the work is altogether 72 hours. The team should register before the beginning of the competition.


Every person participating in the competition is to be born after 27 June, 1980 as well as to be someone working in the field or studying the field.

At least one of the two persons in the team has to be a Finnish citizen. A non-Finnish citizen is to be a person living/working permanently in Finland.

The winners of the competition will be announced at the Cannes Young Lions Finland Gala 7.5.2009.

The two-person winning teams of each category (Press, Cyber and Film) will be sent to the Cannes Lions Young Creatives competition to represent Finland in June 2009.

Kärkimedia has the right to present the competitors’ work in all its marketing materials: in its own publications, on website, in client work as well as in different events. The client having given the brief has full rights to use the winning work, honourable mention work and short list work in its advertising, publications, events as well as in its other marketing work.

The client can choose for its own use from the winning or short list the work it wishes to use in its marketing. For Finnish campaigning this work will be translated into Finnish by the team, which has done the work. The winning work will also be published on the Internet pages of Kärkimedia and the client having given the brief. The competitors will not be paid for doing the campaign work or using them, or for translating them into Finnish.





 

RULES FOR THE MEDIA LIONS CATEGORY

On the basis of the brief the competitors develop a media idea/campaign and describe the idea and its media execution in writing. The idea and its execution can also be made concrete by visual means. The competitors have the image bank of Getty Images at their disposal.


Different media groups can be included in the solution, but newspaper is to be one of them. The idea/whole itself is emphasized in the judgement of the competition work, not the visual execution or details.

The emphasis of the competition is on strategic thinking and an innovative campaign solution. Each team have to be prepaperd to give a presentation to the Jury on 7th April.

The task is

1. To plan a campaign strategy
2. To plan the media solution of the campaign: which media are used and how
3. To justify the solutions
4. To concretize the campaing by visual means (for example a layout of an advertisement)


The competition work to be handed in should have clear answers to all four points mentioned above. Additionally each team is to give a summary/synopsis of the competition work at the end of their competition work (1 slide).


PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION


The Young Lions Media competition can be participated by persons born on 27 June, 1980 or after that, who work regularly in a media agency.

The competition is participated as a team of two persons. The number of teams per agency has not been restricted, in other words several teams from each media agency are allowed to participate. The same person can be part of only one team.


Time for doing the work is 72 hours. The competition task will be published at these pages (www.youngcreatives.com/finland) on Thursday, 12 March at 17.00 o’clock and the work is to be handed in after 72 hours on Sunday, 15 March at 17.00 o’clock. The work is to be done in Power Point form and it is to be recorded as PDF. The work is done in English. The maximum size of the competition work is 5 Mb and the maximum length is 10 slides. The work is to be presentable as such in the prize-giving ceremony as well as on the Internet pages.

The presentation to be handed in is not to include the competitors’ names or the employer’s logos. The competitors are to give a name to their own work. In this way the judges can assess the competition work without knowing who have done them. The winners of the Young Lions Media competition will be announced at the Cannes Young Lions Finland Gala 7.5.2009.
